ABOUT WENDY XU
I'm a Registered Interior Designer with a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Melbourne. My path to interior design began with studying buildings at the architectural scale, but I found myself most drawn to the intimate questions: how does morning light shape your breakfast routine? Where does your family naturally gather? How do daily rhythms inform the spaces we call home?
For twelve years, I've worked on residential projects across Metro Vancouver. My architecture training gives me a foundation in structural systems, building codes, and spatial thinking. This background helps me coordinate with engineers, anticipate construction challenges, and create solutions that are both beautiful and buildable.
I hold credentials as a Registered Interior Designer (RID) through the Interior Designers Institute of BC, and I'm certified in sustainable design through LEED, which focuses on creating healthier, more energy-efficient homes.
M.A.S. = Mindfully Adapted Spaces
Great design begins with listening.
I start by understanding how you move through your home, what matters most to your family, and where you envision your life unfolding. From there, we shape spaces that feel uniquely yours: thoughtfully planned, personally styled, and built to support the life you want to live.
Mindfully planned. Personally adapted. Spaces that work.
WHAT MAKES M.A.S. DIFFERENT
Architecture-Informed Thinking
My architecture background means I think about your home as a complete system. I can read structural drawings, work with engineers, and help you understand what's possible within your home's framework. This approach often reveals opportunities others might miss and helps avoid costly surprises during construction.
Consistent Care, Flexible Scale
Whether you're refreshing a single room or designing a full custom home, my approach stays the same: detailed space planning, thoughtful material selection, and close contractor coordination. I scale my services to your project, not the other way around.
Vancouver Knowledge
Twelve years working in this region means I understand local building codes, heritage home considerations, West Coast climate factors, and which contractors consistently deliver quality work. This local knowledge saves time and prevents mistakes.
Practical Sustainability
Through my LEED certification in green design, I can guide you toward choices that improve energy efficiency, indoor air quality, and long-term home value. Sustainable design doesn't need to be complicated or expensive to make a meaningful difference.
WHO I WORK WITH
We're likely a good match if you're planning a renovation or custom build in Metro Vancouver or the Sea-to-Sky corridor, and you value collaboration with a designer who takes time to understand how you actually live in your home.
